Step Up Efforts in Supporting Students’ Mental Health for the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) Undergraduate (UG) Programmes
The number of tertiary students with mental health problems has increased in recent years and the issue has become a growing concern. It is crucial for the University to prioritise students’ mental health for students’ well-being, personal development and academic success. In order to do so, Faculty of Humanities aims to create a supportive learning environment, which includes enhancement of colleagues’ capacity to address students’ mental health needs, promotion of a positive mindset among students and fostering of peer support networks.
The main objectives of this project are as follows:
1. To increase the knowledge and skills of staff and students in addressing mental health needs of FHM UG students;
2. To promote and enhance a positive mindset among FHM UG students;
3. To organise spiritual healing and cultural activities that promote self-esteem and positive values for FHM UG students, academic/teaching staff and programme support staff; and
4. To create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters mental wellness for FHM UG students.
To achieve the project objectives mentioned above, the project will be implemented through various activities, such as positive-mind workshops, cultural events, mental health talks, and more. These activities are open to students, teaching staff, and administrative staff.
